Luke Perez

Biography

Luke Perez is a graduate student at the University of Iowa currently writing their dissertation on the transmission of text and gendered image in the manuscripts of Prudentius' Psychomachia. Luke also works in Digital Humanities where they are creating an online digital, and open-access, edition of the illustrations in the manuscripts of the Psychomachia, showing how the images have changed as they were redrawn and passed down in the Medieval world. Luke's other research interests include Latin love elegy and Medieval glossing practices. 

Luke has been a teaching assistant for a number of classes at the University of Iowa in online, in-person, and hybrid modalities including Classical Mythology, Ancient Greek Civilization, Ancient Magic, and various etymology courses; Luke has also taught classes in Rhetoric, Elementary Latin 1 and 2, and Interpretation of Ancient Literature. Having won the Post-Comprehensive Research Fellowship after the Iowa Recruitment Fellowship, Luke is now focusing on writing their dissertation.
