Funding is available for summer travel overseas, usually to a session of the American Academy in Rome or the American School of Classical Studies in Athens.

The department encourages student attendance at professional meetings and offers advisory and financial support to students who present papers.

The department also provides master's and doctoral degree candidates with round-trip airfare to one meeting of the American Philological Association, when they interview for jobs.
