His research centers on the interface between medicine and philosophy in Greek and Latin literature. He is currently working on two articles: one which explores Galen’s engagement with the Empiricist medical sect, and another which focuses on elements of Platonism in Lucan. His research interests also coalesce in a nascent book project which examines Galen’s protreptic work, Exhortation to Study the Arts, in its intellectual and cultural contexts.
Dr. Reeder holds a B.A. in Communication Arts from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Classics from Florida State University.
